With the sudden, unexpected, a bit overwhelming but still most welcome influx of new players, we'd like to direct your attention to the BAR Academy.
The BAR Academy consists of volunteer players (Mentors) who often have decades of experience playing BAR and its predecessors. They're people like me and you who dedicate their time to helping new and struggling players get to grips with this beautiful game we have.
You'll find them on the official BAR Discord server via the @Mentor role, and you can always message them to ask questions about the game. Remember, our mentors love to help, so don't be afraid to ask questions!
The BAR Academy also runs scheduled events - known as "Clinics" -
You get to play the game while our mentors guide you and give feedback on your gameplay via the Discord voice chat.
If you prefer not to talk you can always listen in, or you can ask a barrage of questions as the action happens and things explode around you. Sometimes, the top players and developers chime in for impromptu Q&A's; at other times, Clinics spontaneously evolve into tournaments for new players to compete in.
Some events are focused on introducing completely fresh players to the game; others are aimed at intermediate players and focus on particular gameplay aspects (such as, not to sink on navy-focused maps, or unit micro).
Recently, we've also been running a few games in parallel due to the increasing interest, each of them with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. If your base blows up, we'll just laugh it off together and figure out where things went wrong instead of throwing shade.
If that sounds right up your alley and you'd like to participate, head to "Channels & Roles" on our Discord and grab the @Apprentice role by responding to "What are you looking for?" with "Guides how to play." You'll then get sent notifications whenever there's a Clinic event.
Don't forget to keep an eye on the "Events" tab while on our Discord server to track when the Clinics are happening!
