Map reviews process
Map reviews process
To improve the map review process and avoid unnecessary delays, we are implementing a more structured and efficient approach.
Our goal is to ensure that feedback is clear, actionable, and moves maps toward a final decision in a timely manner.
Below, we outline how we would like our veteran mapmakers to review new submissions in a way that is both welcoming to new volunteers and maintains a high-quality standard for maps that make it into the game.
All Reviews are done on our BAR Discord.
Steps
- Go to the dedicated #mapping channel on Discord
- Create a thread where you attach and keep current map files of the project.
- Ping the @mapper role which includes experienced map makers from our team.
- Discussion about the map takes place in the thread so it stays contained.
- When the map maker feels the map is ready, has received feedback it is ready, they ask for a formal review to have the map added - playable map file must be shared here
- Map is added to the game or rejected with posted reasons, at least 2 reviewers have to weigh in for final approval, or @IceXuick if there is no consensus.
Additional Notes
- Reviewers should ensure their feedback is well-documented and points to the mapping standards where applicable.
- Avoid moving goalposts as much as possible.
- Both reviewers and map makers are volunteers, so we must respect everyone's time by making reviews efficient and constructive.
